Furnace Accessories

A shelf system essentially doubles the capacity of the Hot Spot. Double the number of samples that can be fired in your Hot Spot while still protecting the floor insulation. It is constructed from our Buster M-35 insulation as the shelves and dense alumina posts.

A PTCR is a highly accurate ceramic temperature indicator that records the true heat treatment received by the fired product. They can be used as either a furnace calibration check or as a record of an individual firing. They are sold as a box of 15 with the lot-specific temperature table. Your Hot Spot comes preprogrammed, PTN2, to check calibration with a ring.

Zircar supplies setter plates made from our own alumina and zirconia fibrous insulation. Both materials can withstand very high temperatures. An alumina setter is the same material that most high-temperature hot face insulation is made of. It has excellent shock resistance and low thermal conductivity. A zirconia setter is rated for continuous use at 1800°C.

We stock 3/6 molybdenum disilicide heating elements that will fit the Hotspot furnace and some other tabletop lab furnaces. The elements have good heat and electrical conductivity, low thermal expansion, and can withstand corrosion and oxidation.

The element holders are made from the same Buster M-35 insulation as most hot face insulation, as well as the low mass sintering trays and alumina setter plate. The material can withstand continuous temperatures of 1725°C. Element holders position heating elements so the conductive coating can make full contact with an element strap, and the full length of the heating section is in the hot zone.

Stock element straps are made from 75 amp braided aluminum and secured with highly corrosion-resistant 1100 aluminum sheet on the ends to prevent fraying. Element straps can be custom-made to fit your furnace.

Zircar manufactures and supplies sintering trays, which provide a convenient and protective method of sintering up to temperatures of 1700°C. Dense alumina trays are 99.8% pure alumina and provide nearly complete protection from undesired gas vapor condensation on your product. Low mass alumina trays are made from Buster M-35 insulation material and offer a greater range of sizes with greater thermal shock resistance than the dense round tray.

ZDB are fully sintered yttria-stabilized zirconia solid balls. These spherical beads are ideal for use as sintering support material. The standard size product, ZDB-1, is 2.0 mm +/- 0.3mm in diameter.
